On Saturday Jersey take on Leinster at St Peter in the British
& Irish Cup. The Leinster 'A' team are the current holders of
the B&I and the clash with Jersey could set up a quarter-final
place for the winners. There'll be a special Irish theme, including
music, food, reduced entry, and Guinness!
The Match
Jersey will be looking to unseat the holders in this pool 5 match
- the Islanders have never beaten Leinster before, although we came
within just four points of doing so on their last visit to the
Island in December 2012. A win for the Reds, who have plenty to
prove after a disappointing display against Plymouth Albion last
Friday, would set up a final weekend decider to decide who
progresses to the quarter-final.
The Food
Lunch will be available from 12noon in the marquee in the main car
park as follows:
• Traditional Irish roast
• Cheese board
Cost: £12 per person (vegetraian option available)
To secure your place, bookings should be made in advance to Sean
Dunne on 499929 (Ext. 1) or email Sean
The Drink
The bars in the Barclays Pavilion and the marquee will be open
with a full range, but it's the Black Stuff that's on special, with
Guinness £3 a pint all day.
The Entertainment
Besides the match and a half-time demonstration of Gaelic
Football, the excellent Irish band Fiddler's Green will be playing
in the Clubhouse after the match - all are welcome upstairs after
the final whistle.
The Damage
Wear an Irish rugby shirt, or bring your Irish passport or Jersey
Irish Society membership card and you can get admission on the gate
for £10 (normal price for non-members is £15). Students are £5 and
under 18s are free.
Standard tickets priced £15 for adult non-members may be bought
online from JT Rewards, or in person at JRFC during
opening hours, the JEP at Five Oaks, Red Properties in St Helier or
the Lamplighter pub in Mulcaster Street, St Helier.
The Timings
Gates open 12noon, last lunch sitting 2pm, kick-off 3pm,
post-match festivities from 5pm
Friday night
Please note there will be no pre-match function in the Pavilion
this Friday; this regular event will resume on Friday December
19th, the night before our match with Yorkshire Carnegie.
